• A 15-year-old girl was arrested at 9:47 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated battery and resisting a peace officer after police say the girl hit a police officer in the face and resisted arrest.

• William H. Pierce, 18, of 15850 Downing Road, Waverly, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 11:05 a.m. Sunday on a charge of criminal trespassing.

THEFTS, BURGLARIES

• Scrap iron was taken Friday or Saturday from property in the 1500 block of Leach Farm Road, according to a report filed at 8:04 p.m. Saturday.

• A four-wheeler was taken from a residence in the 1500 block of Lisbon Avenue overnight Saturday, according to a report filed at 11:32 a.m. Sunday.

Jacksonville Police

ACCIDENTS

• Christopher A. Brown, 59, of Jacksonville was cited on a charge of following too closely after his vehicle and one being driven by Brandon L. Skovronski, 18, of Aledo collided about 9:37 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln and Morton avenues.

Skovronski was lodged in the Morgan County Jail on a charge of driving with a revoked or suspended license.

THEFTS, BURGLARIES

• A checkbook was stolen between Thursday and Saturday from a residence in the 500 block of South Church Street, according to a report filed at 1:49 p.m. Saturday.

• A lottery ticket was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of West Walnut Street, according to a report filed at 3:16 p.m. Sunday.

• A bicycle worth $135 was stolen about a month ago from a residence in the 500 block of North Fayette Street, according to a report filed at 5:15 p.m. Sunday.

VANDALISM

• Between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, someone broke a window in a van in the 100 block of Meadow Ridge Lane, causing about $1,000 damage.

OTHER REPORTS

• Some tried about 2:44 p.m. Sunday to use a counterfeit $20 bill to buy items from Walmart at 1941 W. Morton Ave.

• Someone stole a bicycle between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday from the front yard of a residence in the 900 block of North East Street.

FORGERIES

• A fake $20 was found Monday and turned into the police department. Also, sometime during the weekend, an unknown individual attempted to make a purchase at Passavant Area Hospital using three counterfeit $20 bills.

• Tami D. Courier, 54, of Pleasant Hill was arrested at 9:16 a.m. Thursday on a charge of revocation of supervision and on a Pike County traffic warrant.

• Edward E. Hull, 24, of Griggsville was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Thursday on a domestic battery charge.

• Matthew D. Lister, 26, of Griggsville was arrested at 8:53 p.m. Thursday on a petition to revoke probation.

• Mark A. Newell, 30, of Essex, Missouri, was arrested at 6:03 a.m. Aug. 22 on a petition to revoke probation.

• James A. Fanning, 45, of 2419 Woodson-Franklin Road, Franklin, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 7:46 p.m. Monday on a charge of aggravated domestic battery.

Jacksonville Police

ACCIDENTS

• Two drivers were cited and one of them was injured in a two-vehicle accident about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday at Grand and West Lafayette avenues.

Jamie P. Anderson, 23, of Springfield complained of neck pain and drove herself to Passavant Area Hospital, according to police.

Police said a southbound vehicle being driven by Michaelle K. Drye, 53, of White Hall and Anderson’s eastbound vehicle collided.

Anderson was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and Drye was cited for failing to yield.

• Craig E. Stone, 55, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 8:49 p.m. Monday on charges of driving while license is revoked or suspended, improper signal and resisting a peace officer.

• Misty D. Sanders, 36, of 834 Beesley Ave. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of assault.

• Cecil A. Parr, 32, of 517 S. Mauvaisterre St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal damage to property.

• Todd D. Wilson, 32, of 119 Forest Ave., Ashland, was arrested about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of retail theft.

• Jesse R. McGlasson, 28, of 1311 McGlasson Road was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of retail theft.

• Blake A. Stewart, 29, of 1106 Hackett Ave. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 3:05 a.m. Thursday on charges of driving under the influence, resisting a peace officer, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.

• Tobias J. Malin, 39, of 102 Megginson St., Woodson, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 9:31 a.m. Thursday on a charge of driving while license is revoked or suspended.

ACCIDENTS

• A 17-year-old girl was cited on a charge of following too closely after police say the vehicle she was driving hit a vehicle that was being driven by Patricia L. Carr, 70, of Jacksonville about 6:16 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of West Morton Avenue.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Juan R. Barron, 42, of 720 N. Diamond St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday on charges of domestic battery, interfering with the report of domestic violence and resisting a peace officer.

• A 17-year-old boy was arrested about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of deception: theft of labor or use of property, after police say he used the electricity from a neighbor through an extension cord without permission.

State Police

ACCIDENTS

• Two men were injured about 10:40 a.m. Thursday when an all-terrain vehicle and a sport utility vehicle collided on Illinois Route 106 west of White Bridge Road in Scott County.

John F. Kessinger of Jacksonville and Mark R. Winters of Roodhouse were taken to Passavant Area Hospital.

State police said Kessinger was riding an ATV on the highway, changed lanes in front of Winters’s vehicle, and the two vehicles collided.

Kessinger was cited for improper lane use and operating an off-road vehicle on a roadway.

• Christopher D. Caldwell Jacques, 26, of Jacksonville was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police say he was backing up in the left turn lane in the 1900 block of West Morton Avenue and hit a vehicle being driven by Anna E. Anderson, 94, of Chapin at 9:02 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported.

• Someone stole a bicycle about 6:10 p.m. Thursday from a yard on Eisenhower Drive.

• Glenda A. Anderson, 71, of rural Jacksonville was cited for failing to yield after a two-vehicle accident about 11:20 a.m. at North Main Street and Douglas Avenue.

Police said Anderson’s vehicle and a vehicle being driven by Joyce A. Bettis, 44, of Jacksonville collided at the intersection.

• Christopher L. Sawyer, 32, of 989 N. Prairie St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 2:08 p.m. Saturday on a charge of driving while license is revoked or suspended.

Divers recover truck

after it slips into lake

A truck was pulled from Lake Jacksonville on Sunday after it slid into the lake while a boat was being loaded.

Bruce L. Halton, 37, of St. Louis told police he was parked on a boat ramp about 12:35 p.m. and trying to load a boat onto an attached trailer when the truck went into the lake and became fully immersed.

Members of the Morgan County Dive Team and Bill’s Towing were able to retrieve the vehicle.

• Craig R. Walden, 55, of 58 Johnson St., Meredosia, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 12:32 p.m. Sunday on a charge of battery.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Kelsi M. Kirbach, 24, of 820 Beesley Ave. was arrested about 10:53 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police were called about a car being driven in the 500 block of West Morton Avenue with unrestrained children inside.

ACCIDENTS

• David L. Sweeten, 26, of Jacksonville was cited on charges of having no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to yield leaving a private road or drive after an accident about 3:25 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Morton Avenue.

Police said Sweeten’s vehicle collided with a vehicle being driven by a 17-year-old girl as he was leaving a parking lot.

Both Sweeten and the girl were treated at Passavant Area Hospital for minor injuries, according to police.

THEFTS, BURGLARIES

• About $1,000 cash, a cellphone and a coin purse containing about $4 in change was stolen between 7:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Sunday from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of East State Street.

• A key was stolen from the glove compartment of an unlocked car between 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 300 block of East State Street.

• Dustin P. Murphy, 27, of 1042 N. Main St. was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 1:33 a.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of a narcotic instrument.

• Evelyn L. Houston, 56, of Manchester was cited on a charge of failure to yield after her vehicle and one being driven by Leonard C. Pinney, 83, of Jacksonville collided at West Morton Avenue and Tendick Street about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Logan D. Basham, 27, homeless, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 12:43 a.m. Thursday on a charge of resisting a peace officer and on warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court.

• Morris E. Chrisman, 41, of 435 S. East St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 3:53 a.m. Thursday on a retail theft charge.

• A 14-year-old girl was arrested about 2:35 p.m. Thursday on a retail theft charge.

FIRES

• Jacksonville firefighters said it appears a fire that engulfed a van at 435 S. East St. around 3:15 a.m. Thursday began in the engine compartment before spreading to the cab.

Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.

• Jessie R. Woodmansee, 39, of Oakland was cited on a charge of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after police said his vehicle and one being driven by Elizabeth A. Turner, 67, of Waverly collided about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Elm Street.

• A 13-year-old boy was arrested at Jacksonville Middle School at 11:41 a.m. Friday on a disorderly conduct charge after police say he was cursing and creating a disturbance in class.

ACCIDENTS

• Moria A. R. Franklin, 28, of Jacksonville was injured after police say the van she was driving was hit by a motorcycle being driven by Scotty D. Settles-Ballard, 50, of Jacksonville at 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of West Morton Avenue.

According to reports, Settles-Ballard told police that he was looking for a place to move after a grain truck began to merge into his lane and did not see Franklin hitting her breaks.

Franklin was evaluated at the scene before reportedly driving herself to Passavant Area Hospital. Her status was unavailable Friday.

Police said Carr’s southbound vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle being driven by Skylar Y. Bennett, 58, of Jacksonville.

An unidentified passenger in Bennett’s vehicle was treated at the scene for back pain.

Shooting victim recovering;

injury non-life threatening

A Jacksonville man was recovering Sunday from a gunshot wound suffered during a disturbance at an Illinois Avenue apartment complex, according to police reports.

The unidentified 28-year-old man had been taken to the emergency room at Passavant Area Hospital about 2:42 a.m. Sunday. Hospital officials called police because of the nature of the injury.

The shooting apparently happened near Eastlawn Apartments, 800 Illinois Ave.

The man was transferred to Memorial Hospital in Springfield with a non-life threatening injury, police said. His condition was unavailable Sunday night.

The investigation is continuing.

• Brian M. Wallace, 33, homeless, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 4:03 p.m. Sunday on a charge of non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images.

• A 15-year-old boy was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Sunday on a criminal trespassing charge after he was accused of entering a vehicle at Taco Bell, 837 W. Morton Ave., without permission.

• Tyrone Miller, 25, of Alorton was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 9:25 a.m. Sunday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession or transportation of liquor by a driver and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

• A vehicle driven by Lisa A. Crow, 39, of Griggsville and a vehicle driven by Mary F. Pranger, 72, of Winchester collided around 3:08 p.m. Monday at West Morton and Westgate avenues. Pranger’s vehicle and a vehicle driven by Tamara G. Oxley, 59, of Jacksonville then collided. Crow was cited for following too closely.

Crow and Pranger suffered minor injuries but refused transport to Passavant Area Hospital.

• A vehicle driven by Sandra K. Dennis, 68, of Jacksonville struck a light pole at 3:13 p.m. Monday in the Walmart parking lot. No citations were issued. Dennis was transported to Passavant Area Hospital for injuries; her 2-year-old passenger was not injured.
