• Henry A. Willis, 43, of Middletown was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 7:53 a.m. Saturday on a charge of retail theft.

• Jonathan M. Dobson, 29, of Middletown was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on a charge of retail theft and on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of contempt of court.

• Edward E. Hyman, 21, of 407 Franklin St. was arrested around 9:25 a.m. Saturday on a charge of aggravated domestic battery. He is accused of striking and choking his sister.

• Curtis J. Rushing, 32, of 203 Franklin St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 3:59 p.m. Saturday on a charge of disorderly conduct.

South Jacksonville Police

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Lamad J. Cross, 18, of 1129 Illinois Ave. was arrested around 2:40 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of stolen property, burglary to a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, criminal trespass to a vehicle and resisting a peace officer.

• Kyla M. Buhlig, 29, of 2184 Spradlin Ave. was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 9:06 p.m. Saturday on a domestic battery charge.

• Amy J. Hall, 47, of 217 Central St., White Hall, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 11:45 p.m. Sunday on a charge of driving under the influence.

• Joshua L. Wilson, 20, of 68 Waddell Road was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 10:02 a.m. Monday on a charge of title/registration offenses.

• Brandon M. Swain, 39, of 2519 Swain Road was booked into the Morgan County at 10:31 a.m. Monday on a charge of title/registration offenses.

ACCIDENTS

• Two people were injured in an accident about 11:47 p.m. Saturday on Old State Road at Green Farm Road.

According to a sheriff’s department report, Dylan E. Miller, 25, of Jacksonville was going west on Old State Road when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of his vehicle. The car went into a ditch, hit a utility pole and flipped.

Miller was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A passenger, Jonathan S. Cooley, 31, of Jacksonville, was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Conditions for the two were unavailable.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Brett M. Keen, 26, of Cudahy, Wisconsin, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 2:46 a.m. Sunday on charges of battery and resisting a peace officer.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• A purse and wallet were taken from a vehicle in the 1100 block of West Walnut Street between midnight and 6 a.m. Monday, according to a report filed at 6:12 p.m. Sunday.

Heavy fog suspected factor in deadly crash

WHITE HALL — Heavy fog is believed to have caused a crash Tuesday near White Hall that claimed the life of a Carrollton man.

Authorities were called to the two-vehicle crash on White Hall-Hillview Road west of White Hall about 7:35 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate Lynn Jason Turner, 40, of Carrollton was going east when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car being driven by a 17-year-old Roodhouse girl. The unidentified teen was treated at the scene for minor injuries and a family member took her to Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

A 7-year-old family member who was a passenger in Turner’s car was taken to Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton and transferred to Cardinal-Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.

Turner had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the White Hall Fire and Rescue Department. He was taken to Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital but died on the way and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

• Lawrence G. Luebbert Jr. 29, of St. Louis was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday on a retail theft charge.

• Rusty Surratt, 46, of 320 N. Washington St., Meredosia, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of driving while license is suspended.

Jacksonville Police

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Kimberly I. Bown, 28, of 317 Madison St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday on a burglary charge.

State Police

ACCIDENTS

• One person was injured Monday night when a car struck a tow truck on Interstate 72 near Alexander.

Illinois State Police said Matthew J. Edwards, 43, of Pawnee was loading a disabled vehicle onto a tow truck about 6:19 p.m. when a car being driven by Erdogan Kurap, 64, of Herscher crossed the fog line and struck the tow truck.

The impact of the crash caused the truck to hit Edwards, who was taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Kurap was cited on charges of improper lane use and failing to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle, according to state police.

ACCIDENTS

• Terry L. Edwards, 69, of rural Carrollton was injured about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in a one-vehicle crash on County Road 600N at County Road 1180E in Kane Township.

According to a sheriff’s department report, Edwards was going east when he failed to stop at the intersection and went into a ditch, striking a fire hydrant before coming to a stop in a field.

He was taken to Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he was cited on charges of failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Dense fog may have contributed to the crash, authorities said.

Armed robbery reported on North Prairie

Jacksonville police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 400 block of North Prairie Street at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday.

Police officials said a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by a black male, approximately 5 feet and 7 inches tall, with a goatee and wearing glasses.

The victim reported that the man had a gun. No injuries were reported.

• Michael L. Pence, 63, of Jacksonville was cited on a charge of improper lane use after police said his vehicle hit a parked motorcycle in the 200 block of East State Street about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• Edward E. Hyman, 21, of 207 Franklin St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 8:37 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of violating an order of protection.

• Jeffrey T. Taylor, 49, of 227 W. Beecher Ave. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

ACCIDENTS

• Two people were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 100 near Pearl.

Penny M. Rinehart, 36, and William D. Rinehart, 18, both of Nebo, were taken to Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield for treatment.

According to a state police report, Penny M. Rinehart was going east on County Highway 10 about 4:30 p.m. when she lost control of her pickup truck while trying to stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 100. Her truck went into the intersection and collided with a car being driven by Donald S. Sabol, 58, of Kampsville.

The impact of the crash sent both vehicles into a ditch.

Rinehart was cited on charges of failing to yield at an intersection, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with an expired registration, according to state police.

Robbers knock on door, demand money

A Jacksonville man was robbed Friday by three men at a residence in the 600 block of North Prairie Street.

Police Lt. Doug Thompson said the men knocked on a door about 12:20 a.m., pushed past the resident and demanded money.

“He said he had none, so they took items from an end table and left,” Thompson said.

It was the second reported robbery this week in Jacksonville.

A man told police he was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday about 5 p.m. while walking in the 400 block of North Prairie Street. The robber displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber left.

• Daryl K. Bangert, 66, of 847 W. Walnut St. was arrested about 1:05 a.m. Friday on a charge of aggravated assault. He is accused of swinging a cane at a man and threatening to strike him with it.

South Jacksonville Police

• Gage J. Bohn, 21, of 2513 Raleigh Road, Springfield, was arrested about 12:50 a.m. Friday on charges of driving while license is suspended and leaving the scene of an accident.

Waverly Police

• Josie L. Coleman, 23, of 303 S. Prospect St., Waverly, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 8:49 a.m. Friday on a charge of driving while license is revoked or suspended and on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a possession of methamphetamine charge.

• Someone stole a small safe containing a handgun and about $1,000 cash between 9 p.m. Tuesday and noon Wednesday from a residence on Alice Drive, according to a report filed at 12:38 p.m. Thursday.

OTHER REPORTS

• A woman living in the 700 block of West Walnut Street reported that an unknown man entered her home about 11:30 a.m. Thursday and then left when she saw him. Nothing was reported stolen.

Berry, 35, of Bluffs and Mathieu Robillard, 38, of Girard were taken to Springfield hospitals, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department. Fernandes’s westbound vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with Robillard’s eastbound vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department. Fernandes was cited on charges of driving in the wrong lane and driving while license is suspended.

• Benjamin J. Handy, 33, who is homeless, was arrested about 7 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated robbery and theft.

Police said Handy is accused of robbing a man at gunpoint on Sept. 20 in the 400 block of North Prairie Street.

• Alexis M. Crafton, 18, of 115 Richards St. was arrested about 1:45 a.m. Saturday on three counts of aggravated battery, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and illegal consumption of alcohol. She is accused of striking, kicking and spitting on police officers.

• Jeremy J. Horrer, 40, of 205 S. Prairie St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 12:10 p.m. Saturday on charges of mob action, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, aggravated fleeing or eluding a police officer, reckless driving, having no valid driver’s license, disobeying a stop/yield sign and contempt of court.

Police said Horrer is accused of starting a fight on May 29, 2016, at the Circle K convenience store on East Morton Avenue.

• Douglas S. Wilson, 53, of 865 E. State St. was arrested about 4 p.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic battery.

Woman flown to hospital

after Pike bicycle collision

A Hannibal, Missouri, woman suffered serious injuries Saturday when two bicycles collided in Pike County.

According to Illinois State Police, Joanne Knickerbocker, 45, and Kevin Knickerbocker, 50, both of Hannibal, were riding alongside each other on Illinois 106 about 10:40 a.m. when the front tire of Joanne Knickerbocker’s bicycle came into contact with the rear tire of Kevin Knickerbocker’s bicycle.

Joanne Knickerbocker lost control and was thrown from the bicycle.

She was flown to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Her condition was unavailable Sunday.

• Drew A. Buchanan, 24, of 106 S. Livingston St., Springfield, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 1:13 a.m. Sunday on a charge of resisting a peace officer.

• Timothy J. Frazier, 22, of 2509 Poplar St., Springfield, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 1:09 a.m. Sunday on a charge of resisting a peace officer.

• Marissa D. Lacy, 19, of 147 W. Chambers St. was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 12:42 a.m. Sunday on a charge of criminal damage to property. She was accused of intentionally scratching the paint on a car about 11:53 p.m. Saturday in the first block of Sherwood Eddy Drive.

ACCIDENTS

• Stanley R. Denson, 20, of Jacksonville was cited on charges of having no valid license and failing to yield after a two-car crash about 5:56 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West Morton Avenue.

According to a police report, Denson turned left in front of a vehicle being driven by Kristine A. Wanless, 22, of Jacksonville.

A passenger in Denson’s vehicle was treated at Passavant Area Hospital.

• A resident of the 200 block of South West Street told police about 10 a.m. Sunday that her vehicle had been stolen.

Man injured during stabbing in Jacksonville

A man told police he was stabbed Thursday night in Jacksonville.

Police were searching Friday for the person responsible.

Police were called just before 9 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of South Mauvaisterre Street, where they found the 36-year-old victim. He was taken to Passavant Area Hospital and transferred to Memorial Medical Hospital in Springfield.

His condition was unavailable Friday afternoon. Authorities said the injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

ACCIDENTS

• Cassandra J. Mueller, 20, of Springfield was cited for failure to yield right-of-way after police say she pulled out of a driveway into the path of a vehicle being driven by Edward C. Pence, 63, of Jacksonville at 12:16 p.m. Friday at the intersection of West College Avenue and Park Street.

No injuries were reported.

• John A. Lemmons, 60 of Bushnell was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police say he attempted to change lanes in the intersection of East Morton Avenue and South Clay Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Friday when he hit a vehicle being driven by Meghan L. Calise, 32, of Jacksonville.

No injuries were reported.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• A license plate was taken off of a vehicle while it was parked at Stewart Brothers in the 300 block of North Clay Avenue sometime within the past month, according to a report filed at 3:19 p.m. Friday.

• A vehicle being driven by Donald O. Owens, 95, of Baylis and one driven by William D. Owens, 33, of Baylis collided about 11:25 a.m. Monday on Illinois Route 104, causing a hay bale to fall off of Donald Owens’s trailer and strike a semi-truck being driven by Cary W. Bruns, 41, of Winchester.

Donald Owens was taken to Illini Hospital in Pittsfield for treatment. He was cited on a charge of driving without a valid license.
