Jacksonville Police

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Nessce L. Colvin, 20, of 873 W. State St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 2:01 a.m. Saturday on charges of obstructing identification and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

ACCIDENTS

• A vehicle driven by Rebecca M. Nimrick, 57, of Jacksonville was struck by a vehicle driven by Rita V. Carroll, 65, of Beardstown at around 11:29 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Morton Avenue after Nimrick attempted to pass on the left. Nimrick was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS

• Kathleen M. Hammock, 58, of Jacksonville was cited on a charge of disobeying a traffic control device and no insurance after a two-vehicle accident about 2:10 p.m. Monday at West Morton and Westgate avenues.

Police said Hammock’s vehicle was westbound and collided with a vehicle being driven by Brian L. Coultas, 49, of Jacksonville.

No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Kaitlin C. Meier, 19, of 943 Brogdon Road was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 9:10 p.m. Sunday on a charge of criminal trespass to land.

• Angela N. Gillen, 25, of 604 Pearl St., Meredosia, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 2:50 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Anthony J. Rausch, 20, of 204 N. Washington St., Meredosia, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 3 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• Someone stole a gaming system valued at $350 about 8:30 a.m. Sunday from a residence in the 900 block of Beesley Avenue.

• Someone took a computer from Salem Lutheran School at 222 E. Beecher Ave., according to a report filed about 11:55 a.m. Monday.

• Someone broke into a vehicle between 8 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday and stole a Global Positioning System.

• Twelve bundles of shingles were stolen sometime in the past week from a driveway in the 300 block of South Prairie Street.

FIRES

• Fire caused about $15,000 in damage to a residence at 1042 E. Morton Ave. early Monday morning.

The fire started next to a bed while resident Terri Angelo was out walking her dog, according to reports; it has not been determined what caused the fire.

Firefighters were called about 2:55 a.m. and were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Anthony W. Waters, 36, of Pittsfield was arrested about 12:55 a.m. Saturday on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, resisting arrest and violation of an order of protection, as well as an in-state warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

• Chester L. Lockhart, 50, of Pittsfield was arrested about 1:20 a.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic battery.

• Dara J. Fulmer, 39, of Troy was arrested about 4:35 p.m. Thursday on a charge of driving while license revoked or suspended.

• Stacy D. Haynes, 41, of Beardstown was arrested about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday on a petition for revocation of supervision.

• Jeremy T. Johnson, 44, of Manito was arrested about 5:55 p.m. Aug. 2 on a charge of operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended or revoked and on a Scott County, Iowa, warrant.

• Robert Carter, 38, of Ferguson, Missouri, was arrested about 7:30 a.m. Aug. 1 on charges of possession of a weapon by a felon, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended or revoked and on warrants from Scott County in Illinois and St. Louis County in Missouri.

• Ryan T. Brown, 28, of Baylis was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 1 on a charge of violating an order of protection.

• Thomas D. Jones, 47, of Pittsfield was arrested about 12:15 a.m. July 30 on a charge of driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Reid A. Richards, 31, of Pittsfield was arrested about 8:35 p.m. July 26 on a charge of aggravated battery.

• Jon T. Voiles, 23, of Nebo was arrested about 2:30 p.m. July 25 on a charge of deceptive practices.

Clarification

Makayla D. Norris, 21, of Winchester was issued a notice to appear citation about 3:30 a.m. July 30 on a charge of illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of cannabis during a stop on Illinois Route 99 near the Western Illinois Correctional Center. The arrest did not take place at the correctional center, according to the sheriff’s department.

ACCIDENTS

• Gregg E. Spradlin, 74, of Franklin was cited on a charge of improper lane use after his vehicle struck a parked car at West Beecher Avenue and South Diamond Street.

VANDALISM

• Police investigated reports of tires being slashed on vehicles in the 200 block of North Mauvaisterre and the 300 block of West State streets overnight Monday.

• Justin J. Donnelly, 25, of Springfield was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday on charges of driving while license suspended and illegal transportation of alcohol.

• Steven M. Waid, 21, of Greenfield was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 11 a.m. Sunday on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

• Shane R. Seymoure, 26, of Roodhouse was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 5:01 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

• Robert W. Shaw, 40, of Medora turned himself in to authorities at 10:45 a.m. Thursday on a petition to revoke probation.

• Roxie S. Smart, 38, homeless, was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 7:19 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

• Stephanie B. Fassero, 37, of Roodhouse was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 3:21 a.m. Sunday on a charge of driving under the influence.

• Hillary E. Stuller, 48, of Roodhouse was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 1:36 a.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic battery.

• Sean A. Groves, 20, of White Hall was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 12:20 a.m. Friday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Ryan L. Newingham, 21, of White Hall was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 1:28 p.m. Friday on charges of battery, criminal damage to property and burglary.

• Amy D. Faltin, 32, of White Hall was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 8:20 p.m. Thursday on a charge of obstructing a peace officer.

Pike County

State Police

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• A Hannibal, Missouri, man suffered minor injuries when his car went off Interstate 72 in Pike County and hit a guardrail.

Roger L. Bush, 44, was going west on the interstate near the bridge to Hannibal about 5:35 p.m. Monday when police said he became distracted while using a cell phone.

He was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital with minor injuries, according to a state police report.

Bush was cited on charges of improper lane use, hand-held cell phone use while driving and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to police.

Clarification

Kathleen Hammock, who was cited Monday on a charge of having no car insurance, later produced a valid insurance card, according to the Jacksonville Police Department.

• Brent B. Boyd, 33, of 413 N. Prairie St. was arrested about 7:35 p.m. Tuesday on charges of driving while license revoked, possession of cannabis and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

• Two boys, ages 12 and 14, were arrested about 9 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of burglary after allegedly entering a garage and stealing two bicycles.

ACCIDENTS

• Mallory D. Rattler, 30, of Jacksonville was cited for disobeying a traffic control device after the vehicle she was driving struck a vehicle being driven by Tracy A. Trowbridge, 42, of Jacksonville about 1:28 p.m. Wednesday at West Morton Avenue and Diamond Street.

• Christopher R. McCloy, 25, of 804 S. Diamond St. was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 11:11 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving with a revoked or suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and having no rear registration plate.

• Krystle L. Inskip, 31, of White Hall was cited on a charge of failure to yield at an intersection and Andrew J. Stremlau, 51, of Jacksonville was cited on a charge of improper overtaking on the right after an accident about 7:12 p.m. Saturday at College Avenue and Prairie Street.

• Virgil L. Watts, 72, of Jacksonville was injured about 2 p.m. Sunday when a tractor flipped and ran over him, according to a police report. He was taken to Passavant Area Hospital. His condition Sunday night was unavailable.

VANDALISM

• A resident of the 1000 block of West Morton Avenue told police at 11:40 a.m. Sunday that her vehicle had been vandalized overnight Saturday.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• Someone broke into Kuhl Tyme Korner bar in Lincoln Square Shopping Center between 1:45 and 6 a.m. Tuesday and stole about $4,550 worth of items and cash and caused an estimated $1,600 in damage.

• Someone stole a handgun and a cellphone overnight Monday from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of West Independence Avenue.

South Jacksonville Police

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Jeffery A. Newby, 23, of 193 W. Michigan Ave. was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on charges of aggravated arson and criminal damage to property.

Police said Newby is accused of lighting a fire in his apartment. South Jacksonville and Jacksonville firefighters were called about 4:05 p.m. Monday to extinguish a small blaze in the apartment.

• Jeremy C. Bertman, 37, of Carrollton was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 5:02 p.m. Aug. 9 on a charge of felony retail theft.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Alexander R. Rominger, 20, of 205 Oak St., Chapin, was arrested about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday on charges of reckless driving and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police. He also was cited on two counts of disobeying a stop sign and improper lane use.

Police said as Rominger fled, his vehicle struck a curb near Washington and North Mauvaisterre streets, damaging the vehicle’s right front and rear wheels and tires. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Shakil Berry, 24, of 1611 Illinois Route 78 was arrested about 11:05 p.m. Tuesday on charges of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

• Alisa A. Bowden, 23, of 527 Hooker St. was arrested about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of theft of lost or mislaid property.

• Deonte J. Williams, 23, of Chicago was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 1:33 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of unauthorized possession of a prescription form.

ACCIDENTS

• Cameo Woods, 19, of Jacksonville was cited for failure to yield a left turn after the vehicle she was driving hit another vehicle being driven by Audrey Just, 27, of Chatham about 8:36 a.m. Wednesday at North Diamond and Oak street.

No injuries were reported.

• Joyce K. Chaney, 71, of Jacksonville was taken to Passavant Area Hospital after the vehicle she was driving was hit by a vehicle being driven by Evelyn M. Mason, 83, of Jacksonville about 9:27 a.m. Wednesday at Mound Road and Woodland Place. Mason was cited for failure to yield at a intersection. Chaney’s condition was not available Wednesday evening.

• Andre M. Wamalumba, 37, of Jacksonville was cited for following too closely after the vehicle he was driving hit the rear of a vehicle being driven by Mary Rouland, 72, of Waverly about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday at West Morton Avenue and Massey Lane.

No injuries were reported.

• David J. Guth, 55, who is homeless, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 4:20 a.m. Thursday on charges of residential burglary and criminal trespass to land.

Jacksonville Police

ACCIDENTS

• Two people were injured about 6:05 p.m. Friday in a two-vehicle accident at West Morton and South Westgate avenues.

Angela D. Coultas, 39, of Jacksonville and Ramiro Munoz, 36, of Laredo, Texas, were taken to Passavant Area Hospital, according to police. Both were treated and released.

Police said an eastbound vehicle being driven by Jose M. Manzano, 20, of Grand Island, Nebraska, was stopped at the intersection when it was struck in the rear by Coultas’ vehicle. Munoz was a passenger in Manzano’s vehicle.

Coultas was cited on a charge of following too closely.

• Elizabeth A. Orr, 32, of Jacksonville was injured about 1:45 a.m. Saturday when her vehicle jumped a curb and struck a pole near a restaurant in Lincoln Square Shopping Center.

Orr was treated at Passavant Area Hospital and released.

Police said Orr’s vehicle was leaving Lincoln Square when it struck a median. Orr overcorrected, according to a police report, and her vehicle went over a curb, into a parking lot and hit a pole.

• Joseph R. Neff, 18, of 806 Brushy Fork Road, Winchester, was arrested about 1:10 a.m. Saturday on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol.

• DeShonta L. Smallwood, 26, of 342 W. State St. was arrested about 2:50 a.m. Saturday on a charge of resisting a peace officer.

• Cayden A. Eskew, 22, of 514 W. Franklin St., Ashland, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 8:35 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

• A 17-year-old Jacksonville girl was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 9:51 a.m. Sunday on a retail theft charge.

• Carl W. Bellenir, 52, who is homeless, was arrested at 12:21 a.m. Sunday on a charge of criminal trespassing after it was reported he laid down on the lobby floor at McDonald’s, 520 W. Morton Ave., and refused to move or leave after previously being told not to return to the business.

• Brent B. Boyd, 33, of 413 N. Prairie St. was arrested at 2:24 a.m. Sunday on charges of resisting a peace officer and possession of cannabis. He was accused of refusing demands by police to stop fighting others at Circle K, 602 N. Main St., and resisting officers trying to arrest him. During the arrest, police said, they found marijuana in his possession. He also was cited on a city ordinance violation for disorderly conduct-fighting.

• A 17-year-old Jacksonville boy was arrested about 1:52 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of South Church Street on charges of forgery and burglary.

ACCIDENTS

• A vehicle driven by Curtis G. Kuhn, 40, of White Hall struck a bicyclist around 2:20 p.m. Monday after backing out of a parking spot in the 100 block of Walnut Court. The bicyclist was treated for minor injuries. No citations were issued.

• A vehicle driven by Breanna R. Bartmann, 22, of Winchester struck a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl around 3:33 p.m. Monday on North Diamond Street. Bartmann was cited for following too closely. No injuries were reported.

• Matthew R. Shoemaker, 37, of Ethel, Missouri, was arrested at 2 p.m. Sunday on a domestic battery charge after an incident at Illinois Route 99 and Chestnut Street in Mount Sterling.

• David P. Kozak, 21, of Mount Sterling was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 24 near Brown County High School on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, unlawful use of a weapon and improper lane use.

Springfield man faces

charges after shooting

A Springfield man was arrested Tuesday in the weekend shooting of a 17-year-old Jacksonville boy.

The teen was treated at Passavant Area Hospital and released after being shot during an altercation involving a large crowd in the 300 block of South Church Street. Three shots were fired just before 5 p.m. Sunday during the confrontation.

Brandon Ott, 21, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

He was being held in the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

• Robert G. Hembrough, 50, of 1015 Asbury Road was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 3:55 a.m. Tuesday on charges of aggravated domestic battery and interfering with the report of domestic violence.

• A 17-year-old boy was arrested about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of burglary to a motor vehicle.

• Someone stole medication from a vehicle overnight Monday in the 1000 block of North Main Street.

FIRES

• Fire caused about $1,500 damage to a residence at 231 Howe St. Monday evening.

Resident Thomas Burton was cooking when grease caught fire, according to a fire department report.

Firefighters were on the scene about a half hour. No injuries were reported.

• Timothy L. Crafton, 39, of 115 Richards St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday on charges of driving while license suspended or revoked, driving a vehicle without valid registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Two arrested in Chapin meth bust

Bonnie M. Fanning, 28, and Chad M. Fanning, 33, of 619 Elm St. in Chapin were booked into the Morgan County Jail about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday after members of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team found the couple making meth in their Chapin home.

Both were arrested on charges of aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing and meth-related child endangerment.

Lt. Brent Penner with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department said a sheriff’s deputy was going to the home to speak with the residents when he found evidence of a methamphetamine manufacturing.

Both were being held in the Morgan County Jail Wednesday night.

• Joshua A. Daily, 31, of 247 E. Wolcott St. was arrested about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

• A 14-year-old girl was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on a battery charge.

• Blake A. Hyatt, 18, of 4344 Upper Meredosia Road, Beardstown, was arrested about 9 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal damage to property. Police said the arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred July 12 in the 400 block of South Clay Avenue.

• Gregory A. Boyer, 37, of 102 W. Smithland St., Murrayville, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of violating an order of protection.

• A 16-year-old boy was arrested about 9 a.m. Wednesday at Jacksonville High School on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to state supported land after he threatened to fight a staff member and refused to leave the school. He was also arrested for resisting a peace officer and manufacture, delivery, or sale of a controlled substance on school property.

• Ryan C. Baker, 37, of White Hall was lodged in the Greene County Jail at 4:40 p.m. Friday on charges of driving while license suspended and possession of cannabis and on a Greene County warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

• Douglas A. Hobrock, 41, of Beardstown was cited for failure to yield after the vehicle he was driving backed into a vehicle being driven by Donald F. Hoagland, 61, of Jacksonville about 11:48 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Avenue and Wall Street.

• Someone stole cigarettes and a wallet containing about $60 in cash from a vehicle overnight Thursday in the 300 block of West Beecher Avenue.

• Someone vandalized a camper between 6 and about 7:45 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Pine Street.

• Marvin S. Mahan, 30, of 3033 Clevenger Road, Franklin, was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 2:10 a.m. Saturday on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device.

Jacksonville Police

ACCIDENTS

• Jason M. Miller, 30, of Wood River was cited after a two-vehicle accident about 10:20 p.m. Friday at West College Avenue and South West Street.

Police said Miller was driving south on South West Street when his vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle being driven by Tabitha D. Smith, 22, of Jacksonville.

Miller was cited on charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failing to yield at an intersection and improper lane use [driving the wrong way on a one-way street].

No injuries were reported.

• A 17-year-old boy was cited on a charge of failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a two-vehicle accident about 11:05 a.m. Saturday at South Diamond and Grove streets.

Police said the teen’s vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle being driven by Brian L. McGinnis, 58, of Jacksonville.

No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Stephen L. Calvin, 39, of 749 S. Church St. was arrested about 9:20 p.m. Friday on charges of driving while license revoked and fleeing or eluding police. He also was cited on a charge of failing to signal when required.

FIRES

• Fire caused $30,000 damage to a house at 250 E. Wolcott St. Saturday morning.

A report said Jacksonville firefighters were called about 2:35 a.m. and upon arrival found fire in the house and smoke pouring from the eaves and windows.

The resident, Donna Clark, told firefighters that she awoke and found the kitchen on fire. She and another resident left the house unharmed.

Firefighters were on the scene for an hour and a half.

• Lightning struck a tree and caused a natural gas line to rupture and ignite at 26 Ivywood Drive about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Fire Department.

An Ameren crew was called to shut off the gas.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS

• Christopher A. Ruyle, 44, of 114 Railroad St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 9:35 p.m. Friday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driving without lights when required.

• Patrick J. Ryan, 62, of Riverton was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 1:35 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, resisting a peace officer and squealing and screeching tires.
