VANDALISM

• A resident of the 200 block of South McDonald Street in Murrayville told deputies about 7:25 a.m. Monday that the windshield was broken on her vehicle and there was a brick lying on the ground nearby. The report was referred to Murrayville Police.

• A 13-year-old Jacksonville girl was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 4:53 p.m. Monday on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer.

• A 16-year-old Jacksonville girl was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 4:59 p.m. Monday on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer.

• A 15-year-old Kokomo, Indiana, girl was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 5:13 p.m. Monday on a charge of resisting a peace officer.

• John L. McDaniel, 65, of 1650 Brunes Road was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 8:15 p.m. Sunday on charges of failure to yield and driving while license is revoked or suspended.

He was involved in an accident about 6:36 p.m. Sunday while pulling out of a parking lot in the 300 block of West Morton Avenue, according to police. His vehicle collided with a car being driven by Deborah J. Easley, 62, of Jacksonville, who was going west on West Morton Avenue, according to police.

• George M. Stice, 27, of 817 S. Clay Ave. was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic battery. He was accused of hitting his girlfriend with a closed fist several times in the arm, chest and forehead, according to a police report.

• John L. Burton, 18, of 1007 Hackett St. was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 4:28 p.m. Monday on a charge of resisting a peace officer.

VANDALISM

• A resident of the 800 block of Beesley Avenue told police about 6 p.m. Sunday that someone shot paintballs at her garage door.

• Someone stole a flatscreen television, gaming console and crossbow between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 8:15 p.m. Friday from a home in the 900 block of North Church Street.

VANDALISM

• Five vehicles, including a recreational vehicle, were vandalized in the 900 block of East State Street, according to reports filed about 1 p.m. Saturday. Most of the vandalism consisted of broken windows.

• William R. Orr, 32, of Big Sandy, Montana, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 8:08 p.m. Saturday on charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, having expired registration and other title/registration offenses.

THEFTS

• A Jacksonville resident told police an iPhone and case, together worth $700, were stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday from a locker at the swimming pool at Nichols Park.

Four people were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 72.

According to Illinois State Police, the four were in a car being driven by Willie D. Harris, 22, of Markham about 10:55 p.m. Harris’ vehicle went off the road near Ashland. The vehicle then traveled through the eastbound median and into the westbound lanes, where it collided with the trailer of a semi-tractor truck being driven by Tracy E. Mose, 55.

In addition to Harris, passengers Alisha Simpson, 23, of Markham; Bobby Bradley, 20, of Markham; and an unidentified 9-day-old girl of Markham were injured, according to state police.

Three of the car’s occupants were taken to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with injuries ranging from minor to serious; the fourth was taken to Passavant Area Hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. The report did not specify who went to which hospital.

Harris was cited on charges of improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to state police.

• Terry L. Kingery, 38, of 1031 N. Fayette St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail about 6:22 p.m. Monday on a charge of violating an order of protection.

ACCIDENTS

• Kirsten J. Willner, 31, of South Jacksonville was taken to Passavant Area Hospital after police say she was hit by a vehicle being driven by Michael T. Rogers, 50, of Jacksonville while walking in the road about 7:19 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of East Vandalia Road.

Willner’s condition was unavailable Tuesday.

• Monte A. Owsley, 49, of Quincy was cited for improper lane usage after police say the vehicle he was driving hit a pole about 9:51 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of South Main Street.

No injuries were reported.

• A 17-year-old girl was cited for following too closely after police say she hit the rear bumper of a vehicle being driven by Dee Ann Cole, 61, of Jacksonville about 3:07 p.m. Tuesday on South Main Street.

No injuries were reported.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• A bicycle was taken from a residence in the 400 block of North Fayette Street, according to a report filed at 9:49 p.m. Monday.

• A backpack was taken from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Gladstone Road, according to a report filed at 11:38 p.m. Monday.

• About $300 was taken from a wallet while its owner was at Walmart, according to a report filed at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday.

• The window of a backhoe was shot with a BB gun between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Routt Street.

Jacksonville teenager arrested in connection with Springfield gun violence

Jacksonville police officers arrested a 17-year-old boy about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a Sangamon County warrant that was issued in connection with recent gun violence in the state capital.

The department, working with the Springfield Police Department and the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice arrested the boy. The warrant accused him of unlawful use of a weapon.

He is being held in the Morgan County Jail pending juvenile proceedings.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• Two guitars were stolen from a home in the 300 block of North Westgate Avenue overnight Tuesday, according to a report filed at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday.

FIRE

• The Jacksonville Fire Department responded to a lawn mower fire about 10:53 a.m. Wednesday at Rexx Battery.

Fire Capt. Mike Griffitts said the lawn mower caught fire while the owners were attempting to replace the battery and was already extinguished when firefighters arrived.

The mower was a complete loss. Firefighters were on scene for about 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.

• The Jacksonville Fire Department responded to a fire at 847 Doolin Ave. at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday after they received a report that several teenagers were throwing combustible items into a fire.

Fire Capt. Mike Griffitts said the department responded to the fire, which was a small pit in the front yard of the home. Griffitts said there were aerosol cans near the pit.

Police were also called to the location because of an altercation between the teenagers and a neighbor.

Citations were pending.

The department was on scene for about 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.

According to fire department officials, the truck was fully involved when they arrived and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the home. Fire Capt. Mike Griffitts said the 1998 Chevy Silverado caught fire after what they believe was electrical issues while the owners were driving it. The owners claimed smoke was coming through the dash while they were driving and some of the interior was melting by the time the reached home. The department was on scene for about 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.

• Michael J. Roberts, 35, of Jacksonville was cited on a charge of improper lane use after police said his vehicle struck a parked vehicle about 1:10 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of West Lafayette Avenue.

• Jeremy R. G. Hobbs, 33, of Jacksonville was cited for following too closely after police say he hit the rear of a vehicle being driven by Catherine J Kollman, 44, of Winchester about 11:23 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Avenue and West Morton Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

• Shelby R. Kniffin, 18, of Meredosia was cited for following too closely after police say she hit the rear of a vehicle being driven by Alec K. Harris, 20, of White Hall about 11:47 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Morton Avenue.

• Ashley S.N. Fritsche, 21, of 738 N. East St. was cited about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on charges of operating a vehicle while registration is suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and having no valid driver’s license.

• Charde M. Brown, 30, of 825 Beesley Ave. was arrested about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of violating a no-contact order.

• Alyssa J. Outlaw, 19, of 1060 S. Clay Ave. was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on charges of domestic battery and aggravated assault.

• A 14-year-old boy was arrested about 3:10 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

ACCIDENTS

• Gary L. Schone, 61, of Chapin was cited for disobeying a traffic control signal after police say he ran a stop light at South Westgate Avenue and West Morton Avenue about 9:51 a.m. Wednesday and was hit by a vehicle being driven by Carmyn J. Saxer, 19, of Jacksonville.

No injuries were reported.

BURGLARIES, THEFTS

• Two bicycles were taken from a porch in the 1100 block of North Diamond Street, according to a report filed at 1:19 p.m. Wednesday.

• A television and DVD player were taken from a home in the 600 block of College Avenue between 1:20 p.m. and 2:28 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report filed at 2:28 p.m. Wednesday.

OTHER REPORTS

• A window of a vehicle was shot out between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Allen Avenue, according to a report filed at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday.

• Michelle L. Brown, 45, of Waverly was cited for failing to yield after a two-vehicle accident about 11:25 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of East Morton Avenue.

Police said Brown’s vehicle and a vehicle being driven by Brandy K. Rayes, 44, of Jacksonville collided in an eastbound lane.

• Someone stole an undetermined amount of cash between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday from an apartment in the 500 block of West College Avenue.

• Fornaldo F. Walker, 61, of Springfield was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield after crashing his vehicle about 9 p.m. Thursday on the Old State Road near Mobil Road.

Walker’s vehicle went off the road and struck a ditch, according to a sheriff’s department report.

• Alexandria R. Wickenhauser, 32, of 103 W. Cherry St., Winchester, was lodged in the Morgan County Jail at 3:19 a.m. Friday on a charge of criminal damage to property.

ACCIDENTS

• Aubrey D. Tarrillion, 21, of Jacksonville was cited for failure to yield at a stopped intersection and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police say she proceeded into the intersection where she hit a vehicle being driven by a 16-year-old girl about 3:41 p.m. Friday at South Church and West Chamber streets.

No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS

• Staphon D. Williams, 18, of Quincy was cited on a charge of improper lane use after he and two passengers were injured in a crash about 11:50 a.m. Friday in Pike County.

According to Illinois State Police, Williams was going east on Interstate 72 when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center median. The vehicle overturned in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

Williams and one of the passengers in the car, a 16-year-old Quincy girl, were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri. The other passenger, Kalil Taylor, 18, of Quincy, was taken to Blessing Hospital.
