man assaulted with hammer
A Jacksonville man was arrested Tuesday on an aggravated battery charge after being accused of hitting someone in the back and head with a hammer.
Police said Michael A. Burrus, 32, of 1111 W. Morton Ave. was arrested about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday. He was also charged with violating probation.
Burrus is accused of hitting a man he knows several times in the back and several times in the head with a hammer after an argument.
The unidentified victim was treated at Passavant Area Hospital and later released.

• Armani D. Foster, 20, of Quincy was arrested 9:08 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, reckless driving, failure or improper signal, failure to reduce speed, improper lane use and speeding.
• Mark W. Coultas, 36, of Pittsfield was arrested 7:18 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
