Four people were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 72.

According to Illinois State Police, the four were in a car being driven by Willie D. Harris, 22, of Markham about 10:55 p.m. Harris’ vehicle went off the road near Ashland. The vehicle then traveled through the eastbound median and into the westbound lanes, where it collided with the trailer of a semi-tractor truck being driven by Tracy E. Mose, 55.

In addition to Harris, passengers Alisha Simpson, 23, of Markham; Bobby Bradley, 20, of Markham; and an unidentified 9-day-old girl of Markham were injured, according to state police.

Three of the car’s occupants were taken to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with injuries ranging from minor to serious; the fourth was taken to Passavant Area Hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. The report did not specify who went to which hospital.

Harris was cited on charges of improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to state police.
