Juvenile arrested after shooting
A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday after a shooting in the 500 block of South Fayette Street.
The teen faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, no Firearm Owner’s Identification, possession of a stolen firearm, defacing identification marks of firearms, possession of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance.
Jacksonville police said they got a report about 1:55 p.m. Saturday of a shot fired at a car occupied by a man and woman. Police were told the shooter’s car had left the area. The man told police he knew the shooter, who was later found in Cass County and taken to the Jacksonville Police Department.
During the investigation, police learned that the shot fired struck the shooter’s vehicle and that no one had been injured. Police found two stolen handguns, a controlled substance and cannabis.
The teen was taken to the Morgan County Jail, where he was picked up by Adams County juvenile detention staff and taken to Quincy.

• A 16-year-old boy was arrested about 9:45 p.m. Friday on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
• Melissa D. Sample, 41, of 854 N. Diamond St. was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 10:04 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft of lost or mislaid property.
