Meredosia fire destroys
single-family residence
Fire destroyed a one-story residence Sunday on Old Naples Road on Meredosia’s south side.
Meredosia firefighters found the fire well under way about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, when they got to the home of Lonnie Lamaster and his family.
“When we arrived, there were flames shooting through the roof on the back side of the house,” Meredosia Fire Chief Scott Werries said. “We knocked the fire down from the outside and made entry through the front door. The fire was in the back part of the house and it looks like it started in a utility room, where the furnace was at and also electrical service.”
Werries said it’s unknown how the fire began.
Meredosia firefighters were assisted by the Arenzville Fire Department and were on the scene for about three hours.
